As attendance counselor, Mr. Sellers is responsible for monitoring school attendance and contacting families as needed when attendance becomes a problem. Actions may include phone calls, home visits, and letters to parents. If attendance continues to be a problem, a court referral may be made.
Unexcused absences are handled as follows:
- 3 unexcused absences - letter home
- 6 unexcused absences - second letter plus home visit
- 10 unexcused absences - court referral
As social worker, Mr. Sellers serves as a resource for teachers and students to assist with any problems or concerns.
